5 Minutes with…. Crown Catering
We asked Crown a series of questions, so lets share with you what they said...
How did Crown evolve to what it is today?
Crown Catering Cambridge was established in May 2007. Our expansion into event catering commenced in a very small way in August of that year. Following a “beauty parade” we secured the contract to become the principal caterer to Tattersalls, a position we continued to hold to this day. We now work at a number of venues in the area with a considerable proportion of private and corporate event catering. Granary Estates features high on our list of premium venues.
How would you describe your catering style?
Our head chef is classically trained and we can accommodate requests for all manner of cuisine, so to describe our catering style is not easy. Inspiration comes from chefs around the globe and we encourage the team to share their own eating experiences.
How would you describe your catering style?
Our head chef is classically trained and we can accommodate requests for all manner of cuisine, so to describe our catering style is not easy. We cook what the client wants. Inspiration comes from chefs around the globe and we encourage the team to share their own eating experiences. They love nothing better than to experiment with new dishes and use the “spiders web” approach to match ingredients and flavours. Like fashion tastes in food are always changing.
What is the team’s favourite part of the day?
Our favourite part of the wedding is the reception where the front of house team is encouraged to interact, share their knowledge, solve problems and answer any questions. It may be a cliché but we only employ nice people, put family first and encourage loyalty, which is why all senior members of staff have been with us for well over five years with top management trained from our early days. Many of you will appreciate how rare that is in our profession.
There are many things which people remember about a wedding but everybody always remembers the food and we know we only get one chance to make it memorable.
What advice would you give to couples looking to WOW their guests?
All couples expect the wow factor. At Crown from the initial enquiry to the first meeting and the subsequent tasting. (photographic records stored so you get exactly what you ate at the tasting) we know that is what is required.
So if it’s the WOW factor you want discover our secret for yourselves and…
let the food do the talking.
