We understand the initial steps of planning a wedding can be overwhelming and a little confusing, and we want to make it as smoother process as possible. So here you’ll find a selection of our frequently asked questions and any other important information.

General FAQ’S

  • The maximum capacity in The Granary Barn is 175 guests seated, and 240 for the evening.

  • The maximum capacity is 88 guests total (including the bride & groom).

  • The maximum capacity is capacity is 175 guests total (including the bride & groom).

  • We can! We have a Sonos music system. For ceremony music, playlists must be sent or given on a device to a member of the events team prior to your ceremony. For instructions how to send a playlist, please contact the events team.

    The events team advise you compose the following playlists for your ceremony:

    1st Playlist – Guest arrival (25 minutes of songs)

    2nd Playlist – Bridal entrance (1 song)

    3rd Playlist – Signing (3 – 4 songs)

    4th Playlist – Exit song (1 song)

  • Our standard round guest tables are 5ft 6" in diameter and seat a maximum of 10 guests comfortably. There are also three additional guest round tables which are 6ft in diameter and can seat a maximum of 12 guests comfortably.

  • It is policy to select a caterer from the ‘Granary Estates Suppliers List’ to serve food and drinks throughout your day. 

  • We allow for you to source in your own beverages for your drinks reception and wedding breakfast only. Once your wedding breakfast is complete, all beverages are to be purchased through our bar. You will be charged corkage only on the bottles that have been opened during this time. For corkage fees, please contact the Events Team.

Outdoor Ceremony

    • The cost for hosting your ceremony outdoors is an additional £275, which will be added to the total hire cost of the venue. This fee covers the setup, maintenance, and any necessary preparations specific to the outdoor area.

    • The fee covers the additional logistics involved in setting up an outdoor ceremony. This includes preparing the space, ensuring the area is clean and well-maintained, providing outdoor seating, ensuing an alternative indoor space is set up, additional staffing and other necessary arrangements.

    • Couples can express their interest in holding an outdoor ceremony at any point from their initial viewing of the venue. You can book this space by contacting The Granary Estates or adding it to your planning portal.

    • The final decision to confirm an outdoor ceremony must be made during the final planning meeting, which will occur 4-6 weeks before the wedding date. This allows for consideration of the most up-to-date weather forecasts and other logistical details.

    • Once the final decision has been made and the fee for the outdoor ceremony has been paid, the £275 fee becomes non-refundable. This policy applies even in cases of adverse weather or other unforeseen circumstances that might prevent the ceremony from taking place outdoors.

    • While we make every effort to accommodate outdoor ceremonies, the unpredictability of weather, especially in the UK, means that we have contingency plans in place. If weather conditions are unsuitable on the day, the ceremony will be moved to our Flint Barn. Please note that the £275 fee remains non-refundable in this scenario.

Venue Hire and Timings

  • Access is from 9:00am on the day of your event/wedding for set up (unless stated by the Events Team)

    Confirmation of a time & date will be issued at your final appointment for drop off & delivery of decorations & belongings.

  • External suppliers (e.g. florists, cake deliveries) have access from 9.00am on the morning of your event/wedding day

  • The bar closes at 11:30pm, with guests to have departed by midnight.

  • Of course! Collection the day after your event is between 10am-11am unless agreed otherwise.

Accommodation

  • The Granary Cottage check-in is between 15:00 until 17:00

    The Granary Cottage check-out is at 11:00am

Music

  • The Granary Estates work closely with Cambridge Wedding Services and can offer you a great DJ/Disco package for the reduced package price of £650.00 (only when booking through the Events Team). Cambridge Wedding Services are a professional & reliable team, with a friendly service. Your own DJ for the whole evening, mixing your favourite tracks. You will receive your own login to request songs to be played in advance. We ask for a £100.00 deposit to confirm the booking.
