Wedding Planner VS Wedding & Event Manager

We’ve all seen those classic early noughties wedding films like The Wedding Planner and Bride Wars, imagining those Lavish, screen-worthy weddings. But what’s the real difference between a wedding planner and a wedding & event manager? Let’s take a look with Joely, one of our Wedding & Event Managers.

What Is a Wedding Planner?

A wedding planner focuses on managing the details, from recommending suppliers and negotiating contracts to executing your vision on the big day. They aim to simplify the entire process, ensuring that wedding planning is as stress-free and efficient as possible. Planners will monitor your budget and coordinate all logistics.

Some planners also offer design and styling services, assisting with the creative aspects of your wedding. High-end, full-service companies may include additional services like managing RSVPs or providing destination-wedding concierge support.

What Is a Wedding & Event Manager?

A Wedding & Event Manager focuses on logistics, but typically works on a shorter timeline compared to a planner. They usually step in about 4-6 weeks before the wedding and serve as the main point of contact on the day itself. Our Wedding & Event Managers create a detailed day-of timeline, ensuring that all invoices and guest counts are accurate. Their role involves overseeing everything on the day, from supplier drop-offs to pickups, ensuring everything runs according to the Wedding Event Order. They’ll ensure all supplier arrangements and schedules are in place and spot any missing details, allowing you to relax and enjoy your wedding day stress-free.

What does a Wedding & Event Manager do?

  • Meets with you four to six weeks before your wedding to understand what you have planned

  • Checks in with your booked suppliers to confirm logistics

  • Creates detailed timelines and floor plans

  • Supports you with styling your wedding day

  • Guides you with what suppliers may be best to speak to

  • Helps with the set up process

  • Advises you on drinks packages, table layouts, order of the day

  •  Main point of contact on the lead up to the big day and on the day

  • Oversees everything on the wedding day
